I can't believe a writer like Stephenie Meyer has gotten this far. My nine year old brother, could write a better book then her. She is one of the worst writers I have ever come across.
Not only is she a terrible writer, which in turn dumbs down its audience. "The Twilight Saga" is a TERRIBLE STORY. PERIOD.
Why you may ask??? But Zonkie how dare you say such things about my beloved Edward??? *GASP*
My knowledge of this "saga" if by saga we mean "high school emo-love", is limited. I have gathered most of these observations from other reviewers, and the ridiculous movie which a friend of mine pirated off the net.
I had only managed to get through about 5-10 pages of the first book, "Twilight". Before rolling my eyes, and deleting it off my Kindle.
We meet Bella. The most anti-feminist "Mary Sue" heroine (if you can call her a "hero") EVER.
Here is what we know about Bella:
A. she is like, super pale
B. she is like, totally lame and spineless
C. she like, totally loves how Edward sparkles
D. she will like, totally commit suicide for Edward
E. she like, only lives for Edward, because Edward is like totally beautiful!!! *He sparkles!*
This is our heroine??? THIS is the principal protagonist of this ridiculous story???
Yep. It is. She will do anything Edward says. Why? Because he says so, and because SHE BETTER OR ELSE. hell, he loves her SO MUCH, that he is willing to threaten HER LIFE.
Now, Lets talk about Edward. Oh Edward, the vampire "hunk" girls from ages 13-45 have been salivating over. The only thing we know about this guy is that he is :
A. a vegetarian vampire???
B. he is a chauvinist
C. verbally abusive
D. a stalker
E. he sparkles....yeah....**SPARKLES**
All the qualities we women folk have always wanted in a man!
Of course, the rabid Twilighters will sputter an argument about how his domineering and creepy behavior is simply his way of "protecting" Bella. Because he "loves" her so much. In the end they lose the argument. They can't win here. The proof is in the writing and on the celluloid.
As one other reviewer concluded:
"What is Stephenie Meyer trying to convey to teenage girls? In my opinion, she's saying that love is about the protection and self-denial of women. Find a man who can protect you from the big, scary, dangerous world out there, girls, and you're all set. All you have to do to snatch the man of your dreams is give up everything that makes you who you are. Bella completely changes her life for Edward; she gives up her high school friends, she gives up her college experience, she gives up her body, and she plans to give up her humanity - all for a man. It’s true that love is about sacrifice - but what is Edward sacrificing? Shmeh, nothin'. But it's okay, because he's, like, sooooo pretty. Pretty and sparkly. *bats eyelashes*"- Miss Elephant on datingish.com
The central message of Twilight is this: "Give up everything in life for your man. He is ALL THAT MATTERS. It's ok if he yells at you, and is totally in control of your life. As long as you are both good little Mormon virgins. It's ALL OK!!!"
And to those older women and moms who love these books.
They clearly have no idea what they are reading, and are probably not doing so hot when they are swooning over a creepy, and overbearing bloodsucker that ***SPARKLES.***
Even Stephen King is calling her out. He stated in an interview "Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good.”
Yeah buddy, that's coming from Stephen frickin' King. He KNOWS what GOOD writing is about.
OH. That's gotta hurt.

Most amazing unknown movie
I recently watched a Japanese film made a few years ago called "Survive Style 5+".
Once I pressed play, I could not take my eyes off the screen. It is an engrossing and surreal film. It is a film where various stories intertwine ala "Crash". Except this movie is MUCH BETTER then "Crash" or "Magnolia" in my opinion.
It is very colorful, and full of magic. This is a unique film, in that it is A LOT FUN to watch. You never know what's going to happen next. It's a comedy, mixed with touching drama and hope.
My favorite ongoing story within this flick is the one between Aman and his wife. It is a story about a husband, who spontaneously felt the urge to kill his wife. The problem? His wife keeps coming back from the dead (in various costumes), to literally kick his ass.
The relationship and chemistry between these two characters is brought to a front, somewhere in the middle of the movie, where Aman seems to make a peace with his wife.
This is a must see movie.

Showing off my mama :)
My mother, Carmen, is quite possibly one of the best dressed mom's in the USA. It also doesn't hurt that she is very pretty and slim. However, her impeccable taste in fashion is probably one of the reasons she has become so successful with her new business. (A children's high end fashion line from Spain.)
I like to think that I also have good taste in clothing, and such. However, I have to give it up to my mom. She is the one who showed me how to look good and feel good about myself. She is still teaching me too.
She also has a knack for finding great things that you miss out on in stores.
She could easily replace Stacy London on "What Not to Wear".
Here I have posted an example of her great taste! I am not naming the designer of the dress, but it fits her like a glove.
She is turning 48 in September. Yeah, SHE IS 48....I know...(no surgery btw)

Where is the best ice cream in the World???
Some say Italy, others say Vermont...I say CROATIA!
Yes, Croatia.
In all my travels through Europe, Croatia's ice cream was the tops. I still can't get over the pure delicious creaminess that this ice cream provides. So much so, that I had to write about it.
I have no idea what they do to their ice cream, but I would like to find out! If anyone knows, please tell me!!!
Google has not helped.....*sigh*
That's a pic of my China doll cousin Lily, enjoying the best ice cream in the world! :)

Album cover : Its BLITZ!
I love the "Yeah Yeah Yeahs", and although their new sound in their latest album "It's blitz" isn't what the typical YYY fan would like, overall it was a brave effort, and pretty good.
What I really love, is the album cover. I don't know why...but somehow it just captures the title "Its Blitz". Or maybe I'm crazy...eh.

Rosie Revisited
Browsing through the latest issue of Glamour magazine, i found a great pictorial of various young famous starlets portraying famously gutsy, female icons of our recent history. The one that really caught my eye was the modern interpretation of "Rosie the Riveter" portrayed by violet-eyed, actress Alexis Bledel. I have seen other interpretations of the famous WWII icon, but I thought this was actually worth blogging about. It's just that good. :)
LifeSavers Ad!
The project was to create a "LifeSavers" fruit candy ad, without it being about anything hoaky or overused (example: saving someone's life...lame). The objective was to make something "fruity" and "colorful". It took me about an hour to come up with this ad, which was essentially created for bus stops, and therefore needed to grab as much attention as possible. I came up with the concept of the poster while i was driving my car! :)
My love for Japan and fashion came to fruition in this quicky ad!
